He was raised by his mother, Karesse Grenier, a New York City real-estate agent. Growing up, he didn't know who his father was. His parents met while living in a commune, and split up soon after Adrian's birth. The documentary Shot in the Dark (2002) covers Adrian's search to find out who his father was, meet and get to know him. Also involved in the film, as both producer and on-camera interviewer, was Adrian's friend Jonathan Davidson. In addition to acting, Grenier directs and plays in a rock band called The Honey Brothers. Although gossip column rumors have been eager to pair him with the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, Grenier has most recently (and most credibly) been linked to Australian actress Isabel Lucas.

I think anybody who's famous has to deal with their fame in their own way, and I dealt with it by making a film about a kid who's looking out into the world of celebrity obsession. Grenier graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. I have a bunch of concepts and ideas that I want to do but I have also been growing my production company in general and looking to branch out of projects that I am directing and producing.

Because when you go out, and you have fun, basically you're performing for these tabloid outlets and the paparazzi. And when you perform and create this story, they're chuffed - they get excited, they capture it, and they put it out.He then attended Bard College, a liberal arts college in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, where he studied drama and music. He graduated in 1998.

A burgeoning behind-the-camera career found him directing the 2002 documentary A Shot in the Dark, about his real-life search for his estranged father, with whom he later developed a warm relationship. He also directed the 2006 black-comedy short Euthanasia before producing and hosting the green-themed TV series Alter Eco, an undertaking that tapped into his eco-friendly sensibility.

Adrian Grenier Biography

Birth Name : Adrian S. Grenier
Nickname : A, Adi
Height : 6' (1.83 m)
Birth Place: Brooklyn, NY
Date of Birth / Zodiac Sign: 07/10/1976, Cancer
Profession: Actor; director; producer; musician

American actor, director and musician Adrian Grenier was born on July 10, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York. He is of Apache Native American and European descent. Grenier attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts before studying drama at Bard College. There, he became a hippie bongo drum player, as well as playing the piano, the French horn and the guitar.

Adrian Grenier’s film debut was in the independent drama Arresting Gena, where he was cast as Kabush in 1997. He had small roles in Hurricane and Fishes Outta Water. He then landed a role opposite Melissa Joan Hart in 1999’s romantic comedy Drive Me Crazy. The two of them were also in the Britney Spears music video “You Drive Me Crazy.” He was given a role in Cecil B. Demented in 2000, and was followed by a role in James Toback’s Harvard Man.

Grenier's next project was in quite a different vein from his previous work, starring as an edgy activist turned dream date to girl-next-door Nicole (Melissa Joan Hart) in "Drive Me Crazy". He performed well in the film and affected the perfect detached too-cool-to-care facade that teenage girls expect in a heartthrob. For his next role in John Waters' "Cecil B Demented", he portrayed an actor, the leading man in the titular director's latest schlocky offering "Raving Beauty". Grenier returned to hallowed halls, this time as a college student gone wrong in James Toback's "Harvard Man" (2001). Cast opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, another teen favorite, he played the eponymous basketball star who falls into a life of compulsive gambling and drug abuse.

Grenier made his directorial debut in 2002, when he worked on the documentary Shot in the Dark. It was about his search for his estranged father, and was made in an attempt to forge a relationship with him. The two reunited, and the documentary premiered on HBO in 2007.

Grenier has also appeared on films like Love in the Time of Money and Hart’s War in 2002. He was also cast as Clay Askins in Bringing Rain and played Ray Polito in Anything Else. In 2004, he landed the lead role in the HBO series Entourage. This brought him success and pushed his career onto the mainstream. Two years later, he won the role of Anne Hathaway’s character’s boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada. In 2008, he was cast as Dallas Houston in the comedy Adventures of Power. Grenier is also the member of two bands, as a lead singer in Kid Friendly and as a drummer in The Honey Brothers.
