Julia Stegner was born on November 2, 1984, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of an accountant and the Central European sales manager for a large American company. She was raised alongside her older sister in a household filled with dogs -- the Stegner family being comprised of animal lovers. Julia became immersed in her profession from a young age: She was a child model for seven years, working on children's catalogs and commercials, and was trained in dance for nine years.
Her family offered her a lot of love and support. She had many dogs and loves animals. She took dancing lessons for nine years and when she was only a child she worked as a model, appeared in catalogues and advertisements for children. During high school she played basketball and joined a club team.
At 15 years old she was discovered at Oktoberfest by a scout. She left to Paris to start a real modeling career. The ELLE magazine was the first big magazine in which she had appeared. Supreme Management offered her a contract and she had accepted. The Yves Saint Laurent show was the first big event for her and it was happening in 2002.
Celine, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Anna Sui, Lanvin, Valentino and Dior were other brands who chose her as a model for their campaigns and fashion shows. In 2005, she was chosen to appear in the Pirelli Calendar and the magazines which had articles with her are Vogue, Elle, iD, Flair and Madame.
