Keira Knightley Biography

Name: Keira Knightley
Born: 22 March 1985 (Age: 26)
Where: London, England
Height: 5' 7"
Occupation : Actress, model

She was born Kiera Knightley on the 22nd of March, 1985, in Teddington, south-west London. Her name would become Keira as her Hollywood career took off, the change shamelessly breaking the golden rule of “I before E except after C” but making the name more easily pronounceable on a worldwide basis. Her father was stage actor Will Knightley, who’d make the occasional foray into television, such as starring as Mr Glegg in the BBC’s 1997 production of The Mill On The Floss.

Thanks to her standout performance in the surprising hit "Bend It Like Beckham" (2002), unknown actress Keira Knightley vaulted to the attention of moviegoers outside her native England. Prior to her playing a young semi-pro soccer player who befriends an Indian girl more interested in joining the team than following her parents' traditional ways, Knightley had already amassed a long list of film, television and theater credits, including a famed - albeit brief - appearance in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999) as Sabe, Natalie Portman's decoy queen. But it was the juggernaut pirate adventure "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003) and its two sequels, "Dead Man's Chest" (2005) and "At World's End (2007), that cemented Knightley as a truly international star, able to hold her own with the likes of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. Not one to be pigeonholed, however, she broadened her range in 2005, starring as the headstrong Elizabeth Bennet in "Pride and Prejudice," a role that earned Knightley her first Oscar nomination and demonstrated that she was more than just a pretty face in the midst of testosterone-fueled action movies.

Keeley decided to go to college at Lewisham College to study fashion. At 5’6” and short by international fashion standards, it was clear that it would take more than a college education to land her gigs in the fashion industry. When she turned 18, friends persuaded her to join The Sun’s Page 3 Idol. She was hesitant at first but decided that the Page 3 contest was going to open many doors for her and was an opportunity too hard to pass up. Keeley Hazell promptly submitted sexy photos taken by her boyfriend to The Sun and in December of 2004, she was chosen as the Page 3 idol of the weekly newspaper. True enough, more than the L10,000 worth of clothes and the one-year exclusive contract with The Sun, the contest gave Keeley numerous rewards. With a modeling career and now projects for movies, the young woman, raised in Grove Park, has really gone far.

Keeley who admits to being dyslexic, did well in English and Math in high school, but over-all she was not exactly excelling in her Academics. She was often truant and spent most of her time with friends. She says puberty was a “confusing” time and the separation of her parents when she was 13 may have compounded her confusion. Katie Holmes Biography

Birth Name : Kate Noelle Holmes
Date of Birth : 18 December 1978, Toledo, Ohio, USA
Height : 5' 9" (1.75 m)
Occupation : Actress

She was born Katherine Noelle Holmes on the 18th of December, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio, a large-ish town on the Maumee River, right by Lake Erie and some 40 miles south of Detroit. Her father, Martin, was a lawyer, doing well enough for his wife Kathleen to work as homemaker for their five children, of whom Katie was the youngest - following sisters Tamera, Holly and Nancy, and brother Martin. Dad was tall, very tall, an ex college basketball player, and Kathleen was far above average height, too, a reserved and lady-like beauty. Young Katie would inherit some of this height (eventually reaching 5 foot 9), her concomitant skinniness making her a gawky kid. This did not help as she attempted to follow in the family tradition of sporting excellence, an attempt part-thwarted when, in 7th Grade, a schoolmate accidentally hit her in the left eye, messing up her vision. When tired she would now see double from it, requiring corrective glasses. Thus sport was not to be her field of expertise.

With "Dawson's Creek" (1998) coming to a close after six years in May of 2003, it was a bittersweet thing for all the cast. Accustomed to being in North Carolina filming ten months out of a year, the cast members now had the opportunity to make more movies. Katie demonstrated this in October, when she had two new movies, Pieces of April (2003) and The Singing Detective (2003), coming out in that month alone. Pieces of April (2003) is a charming Thanksgiving movie about April (Holmes), the black sheep of her family, who wants to give her family the perfect dinner before her mother passes on. The Singing Detective (2003) is a dark musical where the main character (Robert Downey Jr.) is a writer in a hospital for skin conditions who writes a dark world of seduction and murder in his mind. Katie Holmes plays the kind Nurse Mills who tends to his every need. She also gets to lip-sing and dance in this movie. Her 2004 movie schedule included the upcoming romantic movie First Daughter (2004), in which she plays the President's (Michael Keaton) daughter, Samantha, who wants to go to college without any Secret Service tagging along. Currently filming for release in 2005 is Batman Begins (2005), a new Batman movie where Katie plays Rachel Dawes, a childhood sweetheart and love interest to Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Kathy Griffin Biography

Date of Birth : 4 November 1960, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Height : 5' 4" (1.63 m)
Nationality : American
Occupation : Actress

Kathy Griffin, a native of near-west Chicago suburbs, is the youngest of five children. She has three older brothers and an older sister. When her parents retired to California, Kathy moved west with them after graduating from Oak Park River Forest High School and began trying to break into show business. She performed with the Groundlings and then paid her dues doing stand-up at various clubs until she was discovered.

Known for her sharp-tongued, no-holds-barred critique of celebrities, comedienne Kathy Griffin built a career out of clawing her way onto Hollywood's A-list, while simultaneously making fun of every aspect of showbiz. Her catty observations and fearless targeting of celebrities, politicians and newsmakers brought the redhead more than her share of controversy, but she evolved into one of the top ratings-grabbers at Bravo - home to her Emmy Award-winning reality series, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" (Bravo, 2005- ). Prior to establishing herself as a snarky gossip, gay rights champion and all-around vivacious "personality," Griffin made her mark playing Vickie Groener Rubenstein, Brooke Shields' acerbic co-worker on the NBC sitcom, "Suddenly Susan" (1996-2000). Even as Griffin's own level of fame grew to the point that she was eventually working alongside the celebrities she skewered, she never lost the self-deprecating persona that was the second key component of her act, calling attention to her many plastic surgeries and campily embracing the inherent D-status of the reality TV world, even as this "nobody" had the power to rankle Steven Spielberg and Barbara Walters.

She attended two colleges in the Philadelphia area, Northeastern Christian College and Temple University.

Before she was cast in her career-making role as Detective Lilly Rush - the cool, tough-talking cop on "Cold Case" (NBC, 2003- ) - actress Kathryn Morris spent more than a decade climbing the rungs of episodic television while appearing in as many B-grade horror flicks as possible. Though her official performing career began as a member of Morris Code, the family gospel group formed by her parents, Morris broke through with key feature roles, thanks to her productive working relationship with director Rod Lurie, who cast the actress in her first film, "Deterrence" (2000). Lurie immediately cast her in his second feature, "The Contender" (2000), which allowed Morris to be discovered by Steven Spielberg. It was the famed director who helped propel her career forward by casting her in the blockbuster sci-fi hit, "Minority Report" (2002). But all was prologue to "Cold Case," which became a top-rated hit for the procedural-heavy CBS and turned Morris into a household name.

Katherine Moennig Biography

Birth Name : Katherine Sian Moennig
Date of Birth : 29 December 1977, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Height : 5' 8" (1.73 m)

Katherine was born into an extended family of industry professionals. She is first cousins with Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner is her aunt. Katherine grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry and pursued acting from an early age.

While in high school, Katherine kept the desire to pursue acting on the backburner until her studies were complete.

Lean, strikingly featured, and appealing to both male and female audiences, actress Katherine Moennig did not shy away from characters with strong sexual identities over the course of her career. Her first notices came while playing a young woman who masquerades as a boy in order to attend an all-male school in the short-lived WB series "Young Americans" (2000); three years later, she found more substantial fame as the self-destructive Shane McCutcheon on "The L Word" (Showtime, 2003- ). Her androgynous looks and choices of roles led many in the press to speculate about Moennig's own sexuality. That she skirted the issue in interviews seemed to indicate that Moennig had something to hide, but in reality, it only added to her appeal with viewers.
