Should the need ever arise for a backup tightrope artist at the last minute – listen, stranger things have happened – Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl can fill in, especially after showcasing their highwire act last week at Club Congress. Performing as The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, the duo walked the fine line between satisfying fans’ unrequited devotion to Lennon’s late father and fulfilling their own need for originality.
When a few seemingly impatient fans began “politely requesting” that the pair play a Beatles’ song – any Beatles’ song – Lennon and Muhl gently reminded the crowd that they were there to play their own music. And based on the number of people that stayed after the exceptional show to chat with the pair, the GOASTTly duo won over any skeptics with their obvious musical talent, delightful wit and effusive charm.
Muhl has been featured in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Sisley, D&G, Donna Karan, Maybelline, Swarovski, and Jennifer Lopez’s brand J.LO. She has worked with Ellen Von Unwerth, Terry Richardson, Greg Kadel, Gilles Bensimon, and Steven Klein. From 2002-2005, Muhl was the spokesmodel of Vidal Sassoon in Asia, appearing in commercials and films across the continent. In 2005, she starred as Steven Tyler’s love interest in Carlos Santana’s video for “Just Feel Better.” Muhl starred as Lola in Elefant's Lolita music video and was also featured in Whirlwind Heat's Purple music video.
Muhl studies acting in Los Angeles and New York City. She is dating Sean Lennon, with whom she is involved in a musical project, titled "The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger". The couple has also formed the record company "Chimera Music".
