Actor Cameron Joslin Gigandet was born on August 16, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from Auburn Senior High School in 2001, he decided to pursue an acting career. He took his first acting class in Santa Monica College, which sparked his passion for performing.
His first role was a guest appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He then landed a regular role on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless, but his contract wasn't renewed, which was a big blow to his confidence. Soon after, however, Gigandet landed a recurring role on the WB Television Network's drama series Jack & Bobby, quickly followed by a recurring role on seasons three and four of the popular Fox TV series The O.C. as the creepy Volchok. The highly-rated show brought him much attention, making him a young actor to watch.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, actor Cam Gigandet specialized in edgy juvenile and twenty-something roles on television and films throughout the 2000s. He made his debut as a trouble-prone teen on the daytime soap "The Young and the Restless" (CBS, 1973- ) before graduating to recurring stints on primetime series; most notably as a murderous surfer on "The O.C." (Fox, 2003-07). Features eventually came calling, and Gigandet netted choice supporting parts in "Never Back Down" (2008) and the hotly anticipated vampire flick "Twilight" (2008). His ascension to leading role in the thriller "The Unborn" (2009) signaled that Gigandet was clearly an actor to watch.
