Estella Warren Biography

Birth Name : Estella Dawn Warren
Date of Birth : 23 December 1978, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
Height : 5' 8" (1.73 m)
Occupation : Actress

Estella Warren was a synchronized swimmer from the age of seven until 17 in her native Canada. She moved away from home at 12 to train for the Canadian National Team. She was the Canadian National Champion for three years and represented her country at the World Aquatic Championship, where she placed second. A talent scout who came to a charity high school fashion show in which she appeared was impressed enough with her to take a Polaroid of her and send it to a New York City modeling agency. She was almost immediately signed to a modeling contract, and eventually appeared in "Sports Illustrated", "Vogue", "Vanity Fair" and two TV commercials for Chanel #5 perfume, both directed by Luc Besson. She decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, and has appeared in films with such stars as Sylvester Stallone.

While flesh-fixated men's magazines like Maxim honored her with the top spot in their "Hot 100" and Sports Illustrated featured her prominently in their swimsuit issue, Warren was already branching out into acting. In 2001, she made her big screen debut in the fashion industry-set "Perfume", which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Her first mainstream break came with the Renny Harlin car race action flick "Driven", playing Sophia, the beauty who drives two competitors (Til Schweiger and Kip Pardue) to distraction. That summer, she was featured in Tim Burton's revisit to "Planet of the Apes" as a scantily-clad fighter in the human rebellion force. Additional supporting roles in the romantic thriller "Tangled" (lensed 2000) and the action comedy "Kangaroo Jack" (2003) would give her further opportunities to prove her skills.
