Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren was born on January 1, 1980, in Stockholm, Sweden, and grew up in the coastal town of Waxholm. She began modeling as a teenager, and following high school she briefly studied psychology at university in Berlin, Germany. She and her twin sister, Josefin, were also employed as nannies back home, and were hired by a high-profile client.
Formerly virtually unknown, swimsuit model/nanny Elin Nordegren's celebrity status went through the roof after news of her relationship with golfing superstar Tiger Woods was made public in 2002. The sexy Swede's hushed marriage to Woods made headlines in October 2004. Although Elin has kept the two children she has with Tiger relatively out of the spotlight and has kept a low profile herself, save for her appearances at golf tournaments, she made headlines again in late November 2009 after Tiger Woods had a suspicious car crash leaving the home the couple share in Florida. Now divorced after revelations of Tiger's cheating, Elin Nordegren is dating wealthy investor Jamie Dingman.
On November 27 of 2009, police were called to the Woods home near Orlando, Florida, after Tiger crashed a Cadillac Escalade near their driveway at 2:30 in the morning. It was soon revealed that the Woods and Nordegren had been arguing, after she discovered his relationship with club hostess Rachel Uchitel. Other women then came forward to claim they had slept with Woods before and during his marriage. Two weeks later, Woods released a statement admitting "infidelity" and said he would take an indefinite break from golf. On 23 August 2010, the couple announced that they had divorced.
