Aaron Charles Carter (born December 7, 1987) is an American singer. He is the younger brother of singer Nick Carter, from the boy band Backstreet Boys. He came to fame as a pop and hip hop singer in the late-1990s, establishing himself as a star among preteen and teenage audiences during the early-2000s. Carter, who has also launched an acting career, is known for media reports regarding his personal life, including his relationships with Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, and his legal problems, some involving his mother.

Carter’s love of singing and dancing surfaced early. By the age of two, he was already singing to his favorite songs from the radio and making up his own dance routines to go with the tunes. Older brother Nick, already bitten by the performing bug, was delighted to finally have a younger brother, and he soon was questioning Aaron about whether he was interested in singing too. Carter credits his older brother with getting him on the track to becoming an entertainer. "If Nick wasn’t a singer, then I wouldn’t be here," Carter reported on the Aaron Carter website. "He supports me and is the one who asked me if I wanted to sing. I was interested in performing before, but I think it would have been a lot harder."

His first full-length album "Aaron Carter" came out Dec 1, 1997. It achieved gold status in Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada and Germany. The album was released in the United States on June 16, 1998. On May 18, 1998, Carter released the EP "Let The Music Heal Your Soul", a fund-raising project that featured vocals by Carter, the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, the Moffatts and other artists. His next album, Aaron's Party (Sep 26, 2000), was released in the United States under the Jive Label. The album achieved triple-platinum certification.

At 13, Carter recorded the album "Oh, Aaron" (Aug 7, 2001) which featured his first duet recording with his brother Nick. "Oh, Aaron" was accompanied by a video/DVD of the same name (March 26, 2002) which included footage of his 2001 concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as music videos and interviews. Play Along Toys also created an Aaron Carter action figure along with the album's release.

Carter's next album, "Another Earthquake" (September 3, 2002), was released during the 2002 "Rock, Rap, and Retro" tour. The album featured the patriotic-themed "America A O" and the ballad "Do You Remember". Most Requested Hits was released November 3, 2003. The collection included tracks from his last three albums as well as a new single, "One Better".

Carter is also an actor. His TV appearances include "Lizzie McGuire" (2001), "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" (1996) and "7th Heaven" (1996). His first lead role in a feature was in Popstar (2005).

On September 18, 2006, it was reported that Carter was engaged to former beauty queen and Playboy model Kari Ann Peniche. US Weekly later reported that Carter had broken off his engagement to Peniche, saying he was impulsive in proposing to her. Later in 2006 he dated singer Kaci Brown.

Aaron Carter is a member of the Hollywood Knights celebrity basketball team, making frequent appearances for charitable causes. On August 14, 2008, Carter joined the Hollywood Knights for a game in Bergen, Norway. On August 13, 2008, Carter posted a video message to his fans, officially announcing the Bergen appearance on YouTube. On August 14, 2008, at the Hollywood Knights postgame VIP Party, Carter performed his new song, “Swagged Up”, with sixth season American Idol runner-up, Blake Lewis (who was also on the Hollywood Knights roster for the Bergen appearance).
